Searching cases

Find cases directly in your RB database using various search criteria. Before entering a case into the database, check to see if it is already there. View and update case details, including canceling cases. See if there are duplicate cases that you should merge together.

  1. Set search criteria

    1. Calendar > Cases
    2. In the Search By pane, no specific filter is required, but you must use at least one of the search filters:
      • Case Name
        Enter part of a case’s name.
      • Case No.

        Enter the entire case number.

      • Case Type

        Click lookup button to select one or more categories of cases in the Lookup Case Type popup. See Lookup panel. Case types are set up in Lists > Cases.

      • Case Status

        Click lookup button to select one or more stages of cases in the Lookup Case Status popup. See Lookup panel. Case statuses are set up in Lists > Cases.

      • Firm

        Click lookup button to restrict search to one firm’s cases. See Looking up firms.

      • Contact

        Click lookup button to restrict search to one contact’s cases. See Looking up contacts.

      • Sales Rep

        Click lookup button to restrict search to cases that are commissionable to a specific sales representative. See Looking up resources.

      • Client Of

        Click lookup button to restrict search to cases that are commissionable to a specific resource. See Client Of and Looking up resources.

      • Job Date From/Job Date To

        Click date navigator button in these fields to enter a scheduled job date range (see Date Navigator).

      • Job Status

        Stage the job is in, e.g., New or Cancelled. Default is all except Cancelled. Click look up button to restrict the results (see Lookup panel). Job status options, including color coding, are set in Lists > Jobs.

  2. View results

    1. Click search button. All cases that fit the search criteria appear in the results pane.
    2. Click the hyperlinked Case Name in the results pane to view details and to:
