RB9, RB Lite, & RB Connect 2024 updates

This major update will change how you interact with reporters and OMTI by integrating the OMTI.com Customer Portal and the agency side of ReporterBase.com into RB9. Instead of having to go to different URLs, you can accomplish it all inside RB9.

ReporterBase.com is now for your reporters only with a simplified interface that works as well on mobile devices as on computer screens.

New functions

Part of this site streamlining is 6 new functions have been added to RB9 that bring different activites from the Customer P{ortal and ReporterBase.com into the Tools and Help modules.

• Send Invitations for Signature Proxy 

  The function that sends invitations for signing up to the Signature Proxy on ReporterBase.com has been integrated into RB9’s Tools module. (Not available in RB Lite.)

• Signature Proxy Usage 

  The function to view Signature Proxy usage from the ReporterBase.com has been integrated into RB9’s Tools module. (Not available in RB Lite.)

• RB Network 

  The RBXchange function in the Customer Portal has been integrated into RB9’s Tools module and renamed.

• FAQ/KnowledgeBase 

  KnowledgeBase articles from the Customer Portal and RB tutorials from the Help Center have been integrated into RB9’s Help module.

• Report Issues 

  Support Tickets from the Customer Portal have been integrated into RB9’s Help module and renamed.

• Suggest Ideas 

  Idea Collaborator from the Customer Portal has been integrated into RB9’s Help module and renamed.

More options in System & User Preferences

The other functions in the Customer Portal and ReporterBase.com have moved to RB9’s system and user preferences.

• Expanded License Info preferences 

  In System Preferences, the General > License Info panel is no longer uneditable. New options:

  • Request an upgrade to RB9’s Standard edition or a downgrade to RB Lite edition. This feature is only available to Administrators.
  • View your billing history, pay invoices, and manage the credit card used to pay for your RB subscription automatically.
  • Increase or decrease the humber of Named User Licenses for your RB9.
• Set up and manage your Signature Proxy system 

  In System Preferences > Production > Signature Proxy, you can:

  • Add your agency’s digital signature.
  • Customize the invitation to join ReporterBase.com.
  • Select users who will be notified when a reporter transmits their Signature Proxy ID/Password.

  If the email that was previously set to receive Signature Proxy ID/Password on www.reporterbase.com is not designated as an RB9 user, the relevant information must be set again. (Not available in RB Lite.)

• Join RB Network 

  Join RB Network & update your contact information in System Preferences > Tools > RB Network.

• Manage email subscriptions 

  You can decide whether to subscribe to newsletters, update notifications, and new idea notification emails in your personal User Preferences.

• You can pay directly from the log in screen when the system is locked down due to payment issues.
• Captcha has been added to the Reset Password screen to prevent misuse by bots.
• You can change how your name appears in RB9 and update your email address in the new My Profile section in User Preferences.
• You can turn details on/off in all Preview Invoice screens. Previously this was available in only 3 functions. This feature is now available in:
  • Production > Turn In > Edit Turn In
  • Billing > Post Invoices
  • Billing > COD Invoices > View Invoice
  • Billing > COD Invoices > Edit Invoice (new!)
  • Billing > Send Invoices > Preview Original Invoice (new!)
  • Billing > Send Invoices > Preview Current Invoice (new!)
  • Billing > Send Invoices > Print Original Invoices (new!)
  • Billing > Send Invoices > Print Current Invoices (new!)
  • Inquiry > Invoice Inquiry > View Invoice (new!)
• When you merge business units (BUs), RB logs the date, which BU was merged, and the user responsible in the Remarks field of the merged-into BU.
• The Save button in the Setup > Tracking Steps > Edit Tracking Step screen has been changed to Save & New/Save & Close. RB9 only.
• In System Preferences, you can set the next job number in Calendar > New Job and the next invoice number in Billing > Invoice.

What’s new this time?

This minor but important update is all about FedEx shipping integration in RB9. If you use RB9 for printing and tracking FedEx shipments this update will affect you.

• New FedEx authentication method requires action on your part 

  If you use RB9 to print and track FedEx shipping labels you must change your authentication credentials before the current methods become obsolete:

  The current authentication method used for FedEx shipments through RB9 will no longer work after May 15, 2024. A new authentication method, OAuth2, replaces the current Developer Key method.

  Existing Developer Key users must refer to Help in RB9 or the latest User Guide to create and implement the Client ID and Client Secret used in OAuth2 before May 15, 2024.

• Choose your default pricing option for FedEx shipping 

  You can now choose the simpler FedEx One Rate pricing option instead of the FedEx Standard Rate option for shipping in RB9. Price Option was added to Production > FedEx Accounts for Shipping Label > Default Value for Package Information in System Preferences. Previously RB9 used only the FedEx Standard Rate.
