When you search for information in RB9, it usually presents the information in the results pane as a grid, divided into horizontal rows and vertical columns.
The first row (bold text on color background) is always the heading row. It contains labels that explain the contents of the columns. If the results include a grand totals line at the bottom of the pane, it also displays with bold text on a color background.
The rest of the results display in rows of alternating background colors (white and gray) for better viewing of separate line data.
A directional arrow appears next to the column header for the variable that the results are being sorted by. The default up arrow indicates the results are listed oldest to newest/smallest to largest.
In some results panes, the leftmost columns up to the one that contains hyperlinked entries remain visible when scrolling to the right in the results grid. Locked columns are designated by a doubly thick right border.
In some results panes, designated by a button in the bottom right corner, you can:
See Customizing grids.
If a custom grid layout has a grouping zone, you can organize the grid rows into groups you designate to make it easier to see relevant related information in complicated results grids.
Depending on the function, the default grid might already group information by one of its parameters. In layouts that allow grouping, you can set up one or more criteria to group by, arrange the grouping order, and delete any grouping criteria. See Grouping results.
Unlike most results grids in RB9, interactive reports do not look like other grids and are manipulated differently. Interactive reports have initial overviews which you can then drill down into for more details by clicking column and row headers. See Using interactive reports.
When the results of a search are too numerous to fit in one page, use the Records Navigator at the lower left of the results page to locate the record you want.
Use and
to page back and forth through the results.
Use and
to go to the first or last page.
Select a number in the drop-down to limit the number of entries displayed per page.
The lower right side of the pane lists the number of entries in the returned results.
Some information in RB9 is better in a format that is print friendly first, generally information that you are distributing to third parties, such as clients, resources, and your accountant. This information is formatted in RB9 as static reports that you can easily distribute either as a printed handout or an emailed PDF. These reports are uneditable and non-adjustable, but can be exported in a variety of formats and printed directly from within RB9. See Printing invoices, statements & reports.
In all results panes except interactive reports and static reports, you can sort the grid rows in ascending or desending order and resize column widths to view results better. Adjustments are temporary unless you are adjusting a customizable grid and save the results. See Sorting rows, Resizing columns and Customizing grids.
In any results pane with a checkbox column for selecting listings, you can:
Any results pane with a or
button in the bottom right corner can be exported to save, use in other applications, or print. See Exporting & printing results.
