Grouping results

If the data grid in the results pane allows grouping, you can divide the rows into groups you designate to make it easier to see relevant related information in complicated results grids. Groups include subtotals and averages for the results in their group.

Currently only the Jobs (List View) and Tasks in Progress function allows grouping. You can add multiple criteria to group by, arrange the grouping order, and delete any grouping criteria. For example in Tasks in Progress, the defaults groups tasks by resource. Add case to the grouping zone and arrange the 2 parameters to group by case then resource to see who is working on what in each case. Each group and sub-group will have their own averages and totals displayed in their footer.

Your grouping set-up will not affect other users; it is local to your account, not a system-wide change. You can save it to use again.

  1. To change the grouping parameters, click grid options button > Show Grouping Zone. An additional header appears at the top of the results grid with any parameters that are being used to group the results listed.
  2. To add another grouping parameter, click and drag a column header you want to group by to the grouping zone. The results will automatically re-group to include the new parameter. You can have an unlimited number of grouping parameters.
  3. You can refine your grouping set-up. To:
  4. Within the grouped results, you can also hide or show any column, rearrange the column order, stretch or shrink column widths, designate which column to sort results by in ascending or descending order, and choose which columns you want to always be visible when scrolling through the results. See Customizing grids.
  5. You can save your custom grid layout or return to the default layout:
  6. When you have finished setting up your grouping parameters, click grid options button > Hide Grouping Zone to remove the top header from the pane. Hiding the grouping zone will not change your grouping set-up.
