A document (file) can be archived in RB9 by uploading it to the repository of a case, job, firm, contact, resource, location, invoice or witness, or the all-resources-access repository.
For how to set up lists, see Customizing lists.
In addition to which repository in RB9 a document is stored, the file can be further categorized by type. Create your own custom file types that can be selected in the drop-down, e.g. ASCII, Notice, or Delivery Receipt.
File type is used to determine which files appear in different functions in RB9 or which types clients and/or resources have access to. For example, you can have RB9 automatically attach notices to the job assignment emails by setting up a file type and system preferences. See Attaching files to notifications automatically.
For each file type, check the Show to Contact and Show to Resource boxes to have files with that file type appear in their online repositories (if you have RB Connect).
