Setting up a PayPal business account

Before your clients can pay invoices online in RB9, you must set up a business account with one of the accepted online payment processing services and enter your credentials in RB9. Follow these instructions to set up a PayPal business account and enter your credentials in RB9.

Continued from Contact – Account Activity preferences.

NOTE: PayPal site instructions & wording might be different

These instructions might be slightly different from the actual PayPal site, however, the concept is the same. You must set up a business account on PayPal and get API credentials which you then enter in RB9 before you can accept payments online.

  1. Sign up for a PayPal Payment Pro business account on PayPal.com.
  2. Log in after you sign up.
  3. Click PayPal settings button > Account Settings.
  4. Under Account Settings, click Account access, then click Update in API access section.
  5. On the API Access page in the NVP/SOAP API Integration (Classic) section, click Manage API Credentials.
  6. On the Request API Credentials – PayPal page, click the Request an API signature button, then click Agree and Submit to generate the API signature.
  7. On the View or Remove API signature page, click each Show hyperlink to reveal each value that you will then copy and paste into your Account Activity Connect Preferences.
  8. In RB9, go to Connect Preferences > Contact – Account Activity and click Edit.
  9. Add your API credentials to the Online Payment pane:
  10. Click Save.
TIP: Use a different service if your clients do not have PayPal accounts

If your clients resist using your online payment option because they do not have/do not want a PayPal account, you can use one of the RB9 accepted payment gateways instead:
