Searching for payment histories

Use Receivable Transaction Inquiry to search payment histories and view detailed information about individual payments and other types of transactions, such as credit and debit memos, refunds, voids, and write-offs.

  1. Use search criteria

    1. Inquiry > Receivable Transaction Inquiry
    2. In the Search By pane, no specific filter is required, but you must use at least one of the search filters:
      • Transaction Type

        Default is ALL. To narrow the results to specific types of payments and/or other receivables, click lookup button and select transaction type(s) in the Lookup Transaction Type panel. See Searching in RB.

      • Check No.

        If payment was by check, enter the check number to search for a single payment.

      • Date Type
        • Check Date – The date the client entered on the check.
        • Post Date – The date you posted the payment.
        • Transaction Date – The date you entered the payment into RB9.
      • Date From/Date To

        Works with Date Type. To view transaction history within a specific date range, enter date(s) in the field(s) or click each field’s calendar button to select date(s) in Date Navigator.

      • Invoice No.

        Enter an invoice number to search for payments applicable to a single invoice.

      • Payer

        To find payments made by a single firm, click lookup button. (See Looking up firms).

      • Made By/Description

        To find payments that include specific information entered in the Made By field of the Payment window, enter part of the text here. (See Entering single payments.)

      • Bill To Firm

        To find payments by a firm that was invoiced for a job, click lookup button. (See Looking up firms).

  2. View results

    Click search button. RB9 lists all of the payments that meet the specified search condition(s).

    NOTE: Save the results

    To export and save the results, click export button and select an export file type. See Exporting & printing results.
