Organizing with tags

Label firms, contacts, resources, and locations with tags (keywords or phrases) to mark them as part of specific groups, which you can use for different purposes, such as monitoring or marketing. A single entity can have an unlimited number of tags.

  1. In an Edit [Entity] window, scroll or jump to the Tags pane.
  2. Any tags that have already been selected appear in the pane. Click add button in the Tags header.
  3. In the New Tag panel’s *Tag (required) field, either:
  4. Click Save >
BEST PRACTICES: Use tag lists instead of entering tags manually

Instead of entering tags for individual entities manually each time, create tags in Setup > Lists (see Customizing lists.) Then users can select from a drop-down containing appropriate tags for the particular entity they are tagging. This is faster than typing and eliminates misspellings. Having a uniform list in a drop-down for users to select from is more useful company-wide, since everyone will choose tags from the same list.

If there are any tags entered manually in individual firms, contacts, resources, or locations, they can be added to their respective tag drop-downs in Setup > Lists to make them available for other similar entities.

TIP: Removing tags from entities

If a tag no longer applies to an entity, click the hyperlinked tag in the entity’s Tags pane, then click Delete in the Edit Tag panel. Click Yes in the popup that appears.

TIP: Use Tag Manager for faster tagging

If all you want to do is add or manage tags in existing entities, use Tag Manager (RB9 only) to find entities and add or remove tags quickly. You can also print labels or send emails from Tag Manager. See Managing tags.
