Creating linked jobs
When scheduling a videotaped deposition in RB, if you don’t want to use tasks in a single job for these different services, create the video job as a linked job to the depo job. Then, if the depo is canceled or rescheduled, you will be reminded of the linked video job.
- If you are not already in the job you want to create a linked job for, find the job (see Searching jobs).
- In the View Job window, click Edit.
- In the Edit Job window, click More > Create Linked Job.
- RB copies the existing job to create the new job and automatically opens the new job. It does not copy any tasks that were defined in the original job. It records the original job’s job number in Linked Job (and records the new job’s job number in the original job’s Linked Job). Make any necessary changes, such as Job Type.
- Click Save > Save & Close in the new linked job’s Edit Job window.
BEST PRACTICES: Link related jobs
Although you can create a video job separate from its depo job by simply copying the depo job and changing its Job Type to Video, we do not recommend it because the two jobs will have no relationship to each other in RB. It’s better to create them as linked jobs, so if the status of one changes, you are notified of the other dependent job and can make changes as needed.
Another option is to set up one job with multiple tasks.
