Entering general party information
You can enter general information about a party, such as what their role is and what privileges they get, when adding parties or anytime afterwards.
Continued from Adding parties and Updating parties.
- In the Parties pane of an Edit Case/Edit Job window, click the hyperlinked Contact whose information you want to add or update.

In the General pane, enter or update the following:

*Firm
Required. Selected contact’s firm is displayed. To change firm, click
> Lookup firm. See Looking up firms.

*Contact
Required. Default firm contact is displayed. To change contact, click
and select one in the drop-down. (If the contact does not exist in your RB database, click
> New Contact. See Adding contacts to RB.)

Represent For
Which side this party represents (e.g., Plaintiff or Defendant). (Options and default are set up in Lists > Cases.)

Represents
Name of the person or group this party represents

Inactive From
Case only
Date the entity stopped being a party to the case

Party Type
Default is Unknown (except when creating a job, then default is Ordering Party for the ordering client, Unknown for subsequent parties). Select Ordering Party for your client that is initiating this case/requesting this job. For other parties to the case/job, select Same Side or Opposing Side in relation to the Ordering Party.

Presence
Job only
Default is Unknown. Change to Present or Not Present to record the party’s attendance.

Allow case-level repository access
Case only
If Yes is selected, this party will be able to access case-related documents (such as pre-discovery documents) stored in the repository. It is Yes by default.

When jobs are created, automatically add to the job parties
Case only
If Yes is selected, this party will appear as party to any jobs created in this case. It is Yes by default.

Allow job-level repository access
Job only
If Yes is selected, this party will be able to access job-related documents (such as notices or errata sheets) stored in the repository. It is Yes by default.

Show in Turn-in > Prefill
Select No only if this party will not be billed for a copy. It is Yes by default when adding parties in jobs, No when adding parties to cases.

Allow calendar access (not applicable to the scheduling party)
If Yes, this party will be able to access the calendar in RB Connect. You should leave this as No unless this party is a co-counsel to the scheduling party or you want to try to win the party’s depos on the case.

Allow witness-level repository access (not applicable to the ordering parties)
If Yes, this party will be able to access witness-related documents (such as transcripts or exhibits) stored in the repository. You should leave this as No unless this party is a co-counsel to the scheduling party.

Send a copy when sending confirmation email to the scheduling party
If Yes, the party will be included in the Cc field whenever confirmation emails are sent to the scheduling party.
- Click Save in the Edit Case window or Save > Save & Close in the Edit Job window.
