Using alias patterns
RB9 only
When linking exhibits to RB-PDF Transcripts or Transcript Packages, designate which words in the transcripts will be hyperlinked to the exhibits.
NOTE: Save time with pre-set linking patterns
Before linking exhibits, set up a default list of commonly used exhibit file names with their transcript aliases (the words and phrases used in transcripts to reference the exhibits) in Setup > Link Exhibits Patterns. (See Setting up alias patterns.)

- In the Exhibits panel/pane, all files that were uploaded to the witness repository during Turn In as File Type: Exhibit appear. (See Adding witnesses and Uploading files to a repository.) Check the box in the header to select all exhibits or check individual boxes in the list to select one or more exhibits.
- In Link Exhibits, click Next.
- In the Aliases panel/Alias for Exhibit pane, click New > Choose from Alias Pattern to use default alias patterns from Link Exhibits Patterns.
- In the Choose from Alias Patterns panel, your default alias patterns are listed and checked by default. You can uncheck any that do not apply to the transcript.
- Click Save. RB9 generates a list of all exhibit files with file names that match your alias patterns and their designated alias in the transcript.
- If any of your exhibit files are not named in a way that matches your default alias patterns, you can add those patterns to the transcript. Select New > Add New Alias, and enter your new pattern in the New Alias panel. See Setting up alias patterns.
- RB9 adds the new pattern(s) to the list of aliases patterns for the transcript.
NOTE: One-off patterns are not saved to your list
Patterns entered within a transcript (with New > Add New Alias) are used for that transcript only and not saved in your Link Exhibits Patterns database. If you will be using a pattern in other transcripts, save it in Setup > Link Exhibits Patterns so you don’t have to enter it each time you want to use it. See Setting up alias patterns.
