Verifying ASCII

RB9 only

Before ASCII files can be converted into RB-PDF Transcripts, they must be verified by RB9. At this point, you can also edit the ASCII contents, download the file, and prepare a condensed transcript.

NOTE: ASCII files must be properly formatted for RB9

RB9 can accept page-image ASCII files that include headers, footers, and timestamps. However, RB9 cannot accept ASCII files that contain binary code, such as borders, so borders must be removed before an ASCII transcript can be converted to PDF. You can re-apply borders to a transcript in the Select PDF Transcript Preference window (see Setting general PDF preferences).

Continued from Creating PDF transcripts or Selecting PDF transcript preferences.

  1. After clicking Next in the Select PDF Transcript Preferences window, the Verify ASCII window appears. Job and case information displayed is not editable. Review the ASCII file and make any corrections needed.
  2. You can also:
  3. Click Next. RB9 verifies the ASCII file and creates the transcript(s) based on your preferences. (If RB9 discovers errors in the ASCII file, a popup appears describing the errors. Close the popup, fix the ASCII file and upload it again to create the PDF transcript.)
  4. After RB9 verifies the ASCII file successfully, the PDF Transcript window displays the converted transcripts. In the PDF Transcript window, you can automatically hyperlink exhibits to transcripts, attach digital signatures, set security restrictions on transcripts, and upload the files to your repository. See Finishing PDF transcripts.
